Free Amigurumi Unicorn Crochet Pattern

Skill level: Intermediate
Crochet hook: 2.5 mm
Materials: A piece of black scrap yarn, safety eyes (6 mm), fiberfill, pins, tapestry needle
Yarn:

  • Rainbow Cotton 8/4
  • Natural White (#002) – 2 skeins
  • Pastel Yellow (#053) – 1 skein
  • Baby Blue (#032) – 1 skein
  • Dusty Purple (#068) – 1 skein
  • Candyfloss (#093) – 1 skein

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • bs – bubble stitch (4 unfinished dc together in the same stitch, yarn over and pull through all stitches on the hook)
  • inc – increase: 2 sc in the same stitch
  • dec – decrease: 2 sc together
  • (xx) – the number of stitches after the round
  • [ ] – repeat instructions within brackets

Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring. 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: inc x6 (12)
Rnd 3: [1 sc, inc] x6 (18)
Rnd 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
Rnd 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
Rnd 6: [4 sc, inc] x6 (36)
Rnd 7: [5 sc, inc] x6 (42)
Rnds 8-9: 1 sc in each st (42)
Rnd 10: 10 sc, 1 bs, 12 sc, 1 bs, 18 sc (42)

Now, attach the safety eyes with 7 stitches in between. Attach them between rounds 17 and 18. If you wish to add eyelashes, sew them on after inserting the safety eye through the head but before locking it on the wrong side. This ensures the eyelashes go right to the edge of the eye.
