In this tutorial, you will learn how to crochet a plush tiger cub. The instructions are suitable for creating an amigurumi plush toy, and any plush yarn can be used for this project, such as Himalaya Dolphin Baby or YarnArt Dolce. Optionally, you can create the ears with wire or fishing line.

Materials and Tools

  • Plush yarn: Himalaya Dolphin Baby 80316 (orange), 80308 (cream), 80311 (black)
  • Fluffy yarn: Alize Softy 98 (pink)
  • Yarn: YarnArt Jeans 53 (black), YarnArt Jeans 23 (orange)
  • Crochet hook: 4 mm
  • Toy eyes: 6 mm
  • Toy filler: Polyester stuffing
  • Black wire: Thickness 0.3-0.5 mm
  • Needle for attaching details
  • Scissors

Crochet Instructions for the Plush Tiger Cub

Head and Body

Start with orange yarn:

  1. 6 sc in a magic ring.
  2. Inc x 6 (12).
  3. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18).
  4. (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24).
  5. (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30).
  6. (4 sc, inc) x 6 (36).
  7. No changes (36).
  8. (5 sc, inc) x 6 (42).
    9-10. No changes for 2 rounds (42).

Insert eyes between rows 9 and 10. Leave 7 stitches between the eyes.

Change to cream yarn:

11-12. No changes for 2 rounds (42).

  1. (5 sc, dec) x 6 (36).
  2. (4 sc, dec) x 6 (30).
  3. (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24).
  4. (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18).
  5. (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12).

Change back to orange yarn:

  1. (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18).
    19-20. No changes for 2 rounds (18).
  2. (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24).
    22-27. No changes for 6 rounds (24).
  3. (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18).
  4. (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12).
  5. Dec x 6 (6).

Pull the opening tight and hide the yarn end.
