Assembling the Toy:
Ensure the toy is shaped like a triangle – with the point at the top of the body and the wider base at the bottom. Insert a needle with yarn into the bottom of the body and bring it out just under the 9th round of the beige part. Make a stitch, pulling the needle through, and bring it out again from the bottom of the toy. Tighten the thread to create a slight indentation. Repeat this step about 10 stitches away from the first indentation to create a second one. These indentations will form the spots for the eyes.
Attach the eyes in the indentations, gluing felt circles behind them. Sew on the nose and mouth. If you’re using a plastic nose, glue or insert it at the top of the nose. You can also use solid-colored toy eyes instead. If you have eyes with pins, make small holes in the felt circles and insert the pins into the body.
Sew on the ears and paws.
Final Touches:
Using fluffy yarn, crochet around the brown part of the toy to create the hedgehog’s “spines.” Embroider eyebrows with brown yarn. Add shading around the eyes, blush to the cheeks and nose, and finish by crocheting or sewing on a flower.
Flower:
- Ch 4, join in a ring
- (3 ch, 2 dc3, sl st) x 3 times to form 4 petals. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
In the center, glue a button (or felt circle or sequin).
