Legs (Make 4, Yarn: Alpina, Crochet Hook: 5mm)

The legs are crocheted in two parts, which we call “half-hooves.”

First Half-Hoof

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring, tighten.
  2. Round 2: No changes. Cut the yarn and tighten. Turn the piece inside out.

Second Half-Hoof

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring, tighten.
  2. Round 2: No changes. Turn it inside out.
  3. Round 3: Join the two halves. Crochet 3 sc in the second half-hoof, then insert the hook into the 4th stitch of the second half, grab the first stitch of the first half-hoof, and crochet all 3 together (decrease). Continue crocheting 3 sc in the second half-hoof, and join the 5th and 6th stitches of both half-hooves. Crochet 3 stitches together. You should have 8 stitches in total.

Sew the gap between the two halves of the hoof.

  1. Round 4: No changes.
  2. Round 5: Change to white yarn.
6-31. Rounds 6-31: No changes. Tighten and cut the yarn, leaving a tail. Optionally, you can stuff the legs slightly or leave them empty to allow them to bend. Some people add a bit of granulate to help them hang properly.

Assembling and Finishing the Toy

  1. Sew the ears and horns to the head. Tighten the face around the eyes, and embroider the nose, mouth, and eyebrows with black yarn (muline or Iris yarn).
  2. Attach the legs, tail, and head to the body.

For the eyes, you can use plastic eyes and glue them onto the head. You can also paint the eye area with acrylic paint. Optionally, you can tone the horns.

In the end, you’ll have a charming little ram (Barashka) standing at approximately 22.5 cm tall.

This completes the masterclass! Enjoy your new crocheted ram, and happy crafting!
