Construction
Head and body are made in one piece starting from the top of the head. Hat, nose, arms, button and scarf are sewn to the body.
Head and Body
Using US E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook and yarn A, make an adjustable ring.
- 1st round: 6sc (dc) in ring. | 6 sts
- 2nd round: Inc in each st around. | 12 sts
- 3rd round: [Inc in next st, 1 sc (dc)] 6 times. | 18 sts
- 4th round: Sc (dc) blo around. | 18 sts
- 5-7th round: Sc (dc) around. | 18 sts
- 8th round: Working in blo, inc in each st around. | 36 sts
- 9th round: Sc (dc) around. | 18 sts
Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.
Nose
Using US E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook and yarn C, make an adjustable ring.
- 1st round: 4 sc (dc) in ring. | 4 sts

Using US E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook and yarn D, make an adjustable ring.

- 2-3rd round: Sc (dc) around. Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing 2 short pieces on to main part of each arm.
Buttons (Make 2)
Using US E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook and yarn B, make an adjustable ring.
- 1st round: 5 sc (dc) in ring. | 5 sts
Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.
Scarf
Using US E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook and yarn E, leave a long tail before starting, that will be used for sewing, ch 6.
- 1st row: Skip 2 ch from hook, hdc (htr) in each of next 4 ch, turn. | 4 sts
- 2-28th row: Ch 2, 4 hdc (htr) blo, turn. | 4 sts
To Make Up
- Use sewing pins to check position of all pieces before sewing them in place.
- Sew hat on to head in your preferred position.
- Sew nose between eyes.
- Sew arms to sides of body, across rounds 26 and 27.
- Sew buttons to front of body.
- Wrap scarf around neck and fold the side with the fringe, then stitch in place.

Using US E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hook and yarn B, make an adjustable ring.
- 1st round: 6 sc (dc) in ring. | 6 sts

Next row creates fringe:
- 29th row: [Ch 4, skip first ch from hook, sl st in each of next 3 ch, sl st in next st of row] 4 times. | 4 fringes
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Final Assembly
- Place the hat on the snowman’s head and secure with sewing pins before sewing it into place.
- Position the nose between the safety eyes and sew it onto the face.
- Attach the arms to the sides of the body, securing them across rounds 26 and 27 of the body.
- Sew the buttons onto the front of the snowman's body.
- Wrap the scarf around the snowman’s neck, folding over the side with the fringe. Sew it into place.
