SC2tog (using invisible decrease method): Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch. Insert hook into front loop of second stitch. Yarn over. Draw through the first two loops on hook. Yarn over. Draw through both loops on hook.

Notes

  • Checking your gauge is not required for this pattern. Use a hook smaller than the recommended size for your yarn weight to ensure your stuffing won’t show through the stitches.
  • All pieces are worked in the round. Use a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each round.
  • Body, head, legs, arms, tail, and strawberries require stuffing. Stuff as you work to ensure each piece is completely filled.
  • See tutorial photos for assistance with the pattern.

Pattern

Body, Head, Skull Bone, and Tail

Follow the Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch pattern as written, but substitute the following:

  • Color A to pink lemonade
  • Color B to hibiscus
  • Color C to yellow
  • Substitute the recommended size safety eyes to 12mm safety eyes

Arms and Legs

Follow the Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch pattern as written, but substitute:

  • Color B to yellow
  • Color A to pink lemonade

Strawberries (make 5)

Using color hibiscus:

  1. R1: Begin with 4 SC in a magic ring. (4 sts)
  2. R2: 1 SC in each st around. (4 sts)
  3. R3: *2 SC in next st, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (6 sts)
  4. R4: *2 SC in next st, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (9 sts)
  5. R5: *SC2tog, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (6 sts)

Using color lagoon:

  1. R6: Sl st to next st, * ch 2, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sl st to next st. Repeat from * around.
  2. Cut yarn, leaving long strand for sewing. Fasten off.

Embroidery

Using white yarn, embroider:

  • Small lines to create seeds on the strawberries.
  • A lemon slice shape starting from the middle of the MR and making a star shape with 6 points. Then outline the star to create a circle.

Assembly & Finishing

Using the Mini Stevie the Stygimoloch pattern, follow the assembly instructions as written, except for the front horns and crown horns:

  • Attach one strawberry just below the tip of the skull bone, centered on R7.
  • Using color pink lemonade, embroider 2 nostrils on the head, on either side of the front strawberry.
  • Attach four strawberries around the back of the skull bone.

Note: Safety eyes and noses pose a choking risk for babies; therefore, if making this toy for a baby, I recommend using yarn, felt, or embroidered details.
