Pot

Use the yarn color of your choice. For this project, I used beige.

  1. MR 6sc (6)
  2. 6inc (12)
  3. (1sc, 1inc) × 6 (18)
  4. (2sc, 1inc) × 6 (24)
  5. (3sc, 1inc) × 6 (30)
  6. (4sc, 1inc) × 6 (36)
  7. (5sc, 1inc) × 6 (42)
  8. (6sc, 1inc) × 6 (48)
  9. BLO 1 round (48)
  10. Rounds 10-19: sc in each stitch around (48)
  11. Round 20: ch 2, 48dc, sl st to join. This row will form the edge of the pot, fold it over as shown in the picture.

Fasten off, hide the yarn ends.

Sunflower

Sunflower Center

Work with brown yarn. All rounds are worked in BLO.

  1. MR 6sc (6)
  2. BLO 6inc (12)
  3. BLO (1sc, 1inc) × 6 (18)
  4. BLO (2sc, 1inc) × 6 (24)
  5. BLO (3sc, 1inc) × 6 (30)

Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Now, we'll crochet in the FLO left from the previous rounds. These will form the sunflower seeds. The sequence is: ch 3, sl st, repeat around the round up to Round 5.

Sunflower Petals

Work with yellow yarn. You will create two rounds of petals. Both petal rounds will be worked on Round 5 of the sunflower center, one in FLO and the other in BLO.

Each round should have 15 petals.

The petal sequence:

  • [ (1sc, 1dc, 1tr, picot (ch 2, 1sc)), (1tr, 1dc, 1sl st) ]

Each petal is worked over 2 stitches. Since Round 5 has 30 stitches, and each petal uses 2 stitches, you should end up with 15 petals at the end of each round.

Sunflower Back

Work with green yarn.

  1. MR 6sc (6)
  2. 6inc (12)
  3. (1sc, 1inc) × 6 (18)
  4. (2sc, 1inc) × 6 (24)
  5. (3sc, 1inc) × 6 (30)
  6. Rounds 6-7: sc in each stitch around

Leave a long tail for sewing.

Leaf (Make 2)

Use green yarn. Begin with ch 10, then follow this sequence:

  1. sl st, sc, hdc, dc, 3tr, dc, 4hdc in the last chain, turn, dc, 3tr, dc, hdc, sc, sl st.

Close with a sl st in the first stitch. You can use wire if desired.

Soil

Use dark brown yarn. Follow the same sequence as the pot until Round 8. Sew the soil onto the pot at Round 18, sewing from the back.
