Materials

  1. Yarn (cotton blend, 270-330m/100g). I used YarnArt Jeans. Basket color: 60-65g, white (for rabbit): 20-25g, and scraps of different colors for eggs.
  2. Any filler (sintepukh, holofiber).
  3. Eyes D=8mm, needle, wire (for the handle), satin ribbon 25-30cm.
  4. To stiffen the basket, we will use a sugar solution. You’ll need two containers (one with a diameter of 12.5cm, the other larger by 1-1.5cm), blush, and a hot glue gun.

Abbreviations

  • MR - magic ring
  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • sl st - slip stitch

Basket

  1. Round 1: 8 sc in MR (8)
  2. Round 2: (inc) x 8 (16)

  14. Round 14: Work in back loops only, 104 sc (104)
  15. Rounds 15-21: 104 sc (104)
  16. Round 22: Work in back loops, increase in every stitch (208)
  17. Round 23: (1 sc, inc) to end (312)
  18. Rounds 24-29: 312 sc (312), sl st to finish.

Make a sugar solution: 0.5L of warm water and 7-9 tablespoons of sugar. Soak the basket for 5-10 minutes, then squeeze out the excess liquid. Use a plastic container of the right size (I used one with a 12.5 cm diameter) to shape the basket. Stretch the basket over the container (right side inside) and secure with an elastic band. Invert the container.

Use another container slightly larger (by 1-1.5 cm) and 10 cm deep. Place the basket inside to form nice waves. Let it dry. To speed up the drying process, use a hair dryer periodically, focusing on the waves. Once dry, remove the basket from the larger container and dry the bottom.

Handle

  1. Round 1: 10 sc in MR (10)
  2. Rounds 2-104: 10 sc (10), sl st.

Take the wire and create a small loop at one end, insert it into the handle, and make another loop at the other end. Use a needle to secure the loops by stitching through the handle. Shape the handle so that the distance between its ends matches the diameter of the basket’s bottom. Soak the handle in the sugar solution for 10-15 minutes, squeeze out the excess, reshape it, and leave it to dry.

Rabbit

Head

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)
  3. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
  4. Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
  5. Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
  6. Rounds 6-12: 30 sc (30)
  7. Round 13: (dec, 3 sc) x 6 (24)

Insert the eyes between rows 7-8, with a distance of 11 sc between them. Begin stuffing the head.

  1. Round 14: (dec, 2 sc) x 6 (18)
  2. Round 15: (dec, 1 sc) x 6 (12)
  3. Round 16: (dec) x 6 (6), sl st. Fasten off and close the hole.

Ears (make 2)

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. Round 2: 6 sc (6)
  3. Round 3: (inc) x 6 (12)
  4. Rounds 4-13: 12 sc (12)

Fold the ears in half and sew them closed.

Body

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)
  3. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)

  8. Rounds 8-14: 42 sc (42)
  9. Round 15: (dec, 5 sc) x 6 (36)
  10. Rounds 16-18: 36 sc (36)

Start stuffing the body.

  1. Round 19: (dec, 4 sc) x 6 (30)
  2. Round 20: (dec, 3 sc) x 6 (24)
  3. Round 21: (dec, 2 sc) x 6 (18)
  4. Round 22: (dec, 1 sc) x 6 (12)
  5. Round 23: (dec) x 6 (6), sl st. Fasten off and close the hole.

Arms (make 4)

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)
  3. Rounds 3-7: 12 sc (12)
  4. Round 8: (dec) x 6 (6), sl st.

Tail

  1. Round 1: 8 sc in MR (8)
  2. Round 2: (inc) x 8 (16)
  3. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 8 (24)
  4. Rounds 4-6: 24 sc (24)
  5. Round 7: (dec) x 12 (12), sl st.

Stuff the tail.

Make slight adjustments to the rabbit’s face using a needle. Insert the needle near the inner part of one eye and pull it through the inner part of the other eye, slightly tightening. Repeat several times. Embroider the nose with pink yarn. Sew the ears between rows 12-13. Sew the head, arms, and tail in place. Add a bow, and use blush to add

Eggs (make 10)

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. Round 2: (inc) x 6 (12)
  3. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
  4. Round 4: 18 sc (18)
  5. Round 5: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
  6. Rounds 6-11: 24 sc (24)
  7. Round 12: (dec, 2 sc) x 6 (18)
  8. Start stuffing the egg.
  9. Round 13: (dec, 1 sc) x 6 (12)
  10. Round 14: (dec) x 6 (6), sl st. Fasten off and close the hole.

Branch

Crochet using hook No. 0.9 with a single thread.

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  2. Round 2 and beyond: Continue crocheting in sc until you reach the desired length (mine is 25 cm).

Take a wire of the required length, form a small loop, and insert it into the branch. Make 5 branches in total.

Bud

Each bud consists of two parts. Crochet using hook No. 1.7 and a double thread.

  1. Use gray yarn:
    1. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
    2. Rounds 2-4: 6 sc (6)
    3. Round 5: (dec) x 3 (3), sl st. Do not stuff the part.

Make 25 buds (5 for each branch).

  2. Use brown yarn:
    1. Make a slip knot like for MR, crochet in sc, tighten and flip the work.
    2. Make 1 ch for lifting. Then crochet: 2 increases in sc, 2 increases in dc, and 2 increases in sc.
    3. Insert the hook into the first stitch and make a sl st. Cut the yarn and hide the tail inside. You should have a concave petal. Make 25 petals.

Using a small drop of hot glue, glue two parts of the bud together. Sew the buds to the branches: first, attach the base of the bud, then make three stitches on both the right and left sides, making sure to only catch the brown part.

Finishing Touches

Decorate the vase with lace, if desired, to give it a charming finishing touch.
