Head:

(For my cat, I used 8 mm safety eyes)

  1. 6 sc in MR
  2. Inc*6 (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc)*6 (18)
  4. (2 sc, inc)*6 (24)
  5. (3 sc, inc)*6 (30)
  6. (4 sc, inc)*6 (36)
  7. (5 sc, inc)*6 (42)

  9. 48 sc (4 rounds)
  10. (7 sc, inc)*6 (54)
  11. 54 sc (5 rounds)

Place the eyes between rounds 13 and 14, 8 sc apart.

  1. (7 sc, dec)*6 (48)
  2. (6 sc, dec)*6 (42)
  3. (5 sc, dec)*6 (36)
  4. (4 sc, dec)*6 (30)
  5. (3 sc, dec)*6 (24)

Stuff the piece, cut the yarn, and secure it. All yarn ends will be hidden inside the head.

Make a dent. Insert the needle between the stitches as close as possible to the middle of 1 eye (see photo). Wrap the yarn around the eye, passing it between the eye and the crocheted fabric (the yarn should circle around the eye's leg) and insert the needle back to the same point it came out. Immediately insert the needle close to the second eye, pull the thread tight (you will see the dent forming). Repeat this with the second eye, pull the yarn tight, and then insert the needle with the yarn to the bottom of the head.

Embellish the eye with white yarn. Embroider the nose (I used black embroidery thread) at the lower edge of the eye; the "length" of the nose is 4 sc. Embroider a line for the mouth.

Embroider whiskers, leaving 3 sc on each side from the mouth.

Sew the ears between rounds 3 and 13. I recommend securing them with pins first to ensure that the distance from the ear to the eye is the same on both sides (I have 8 sc).

Sew the head to the body.
