Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Cotton yarn 8/6 or semi-thick in the following colors: white, dark blue or light blue, yellow, orange, pink.
  • Crochet Hook: 3 mm.
  • Safety Eyes: 12 mm.
  • Yarn Needle.
  • Polyester Fiberfill: For stuffing.
  • Stitch Marker.
  • Scissors.
  • Ruler.
  • Cardboard.
  • Liquid Silicone Glue or any fabric adhesive.

Pineapple Stitch (PP)

  1. Create the first part of the first double crochet (DC) until there are two loops on the hook.
  2. Make three more double crochets (DC) in the same base stitch, leaving the last loop of each DC on the hook (there should be five loops on the hook at the end).
  3. Yarn over and pull through all loops together.

Head

  1. R1: AM, 5 SC (6).
  2. R2: 6 INC (12).
  3. R3: (1 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (18).
  4. R4: (2 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (24).
  5. R5: BLO, (3 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (30).
  6. R6: (4 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (36).
  7. R7: (5 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (42).
  8. R8: (6 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (48).
  9. R9-R19: 1 SC in each stitch around (48 stitches per round for 11 rounds).

Note: Place the safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11 with a gap of 7 stitches between them. Embroider cheeks with pink yarn between rounds 9 and 10. Center the nose between the eyes and sew in place.

  1. R20: BLO, (6 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (42).
  2. Insert a cardboard circle (approx. 7 cm diameter) into the head to flatten the top. Continue stuffing as you work.
  3. R21: (5 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (36).
  4. R22: (4 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (30).
  5. R23: (3 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (24).
  6. R24: (2 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (18).
  7. R25: (1 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (12).
  8. R26: 6 DEC (6).

Fasten off and close the remaining stitches with a yarn needle.

Ears (Make 2)

  1. R1: AM, 6 SC (6).
  2. R2-R3: 1 SC in each stitch around (6 stitches per round for 2 rounds).

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach ears between rounds 10 and 11, with a gap of 5 stitches between them.

Legs (Make 2)

  1. R1: AM, 5 SC (6).
  2. R2: 6 INC (12).
  3. R3: BLO, 1 SC in each stitch around (12).
    • Change to white yarn.
  4. R4: BLO, 1 SC in each stitch around (12).
    • Change to yellow yarn.
  5. R5: BLO, 1 SC in each stitch around (12).
  6. R6: 1 SC in each stitch around (12).
    • Change to blue or light blue yarn.
  7. R7: 1 SC in each stitch around (12).

Fasten off and attach the two legs together using a slip stitch.

  1. R8: (3 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (30).
  2. R9: (4 SC, 1 INC) x 6 (36).
  3. R10-R13: 1 SC in each stitch around (36 stitches per round for 4 rounds).
    • Change to orange yarn.
  4. R14-R17: 1 SC in each stitch around (36 stitches per round for 4 rounds).
  5. R18: (4 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (30).
  6. R19: 1 SC in each stitch around (30).
  7. R20: (3 SC, 1 DEC) x 6 (24).
  8. R21: 1 SC in each stitch around (24).

Fasten off and sew to the body.

Additional Detail: Use the front loops left free from round 4 to attach a decorative border or another layer using SC.

Arms (Make 2)

Left Arm:

  1. R1: AM, 6 SC (6).
  2. R2: (1 SC, 1 INC) x 3 (9).
  3. R3: 1 SC in each stitch around (9).
  4. R4: 4 SC, 1 Pineapple Stitch, 4 SC (9).
  5. R5-R8: 1 SC in each stitch around (9).
    • Change to orange yarn.
  6. R9-R12: 1 SC in each stitch around (9).

Stuff only the hand part. Flatten the arm and close using SC. Fasten off.

Right Arm: Same as left arm but change round 4 to:

  1. R4: 1 SC, 1 Pineapple Stitch, 7 SC (9).

Hair

Using yellow yarn, work in the front loops left free in round 20 of the head:

  1. Row 1: Chain 3, in the second chain from the hook, make 1 SC and 1 HDC.
  2. Skip 1 base stitch, SL ST, and repeat the sequence: Chain 3, 1 SC, 1 HDC until the round is complete.
