Materials and tools

  • Sport weight/4ply yarn Yarn Art baby cotton (50g/165m) 404 beige
  • Sport weight/4 ply yarn Alize Cotton gold (100g/330m) 60 black, 55 white, 21 grey
  • Fingering/ply yarn Alize miss (50g/280m) 60 black
  • Crochet hook - 1.75 mm or any type you prefer
  • Safety eyes 10 mm size - 2 pcs
  • Fiberfill
  • Wire for the frame (1.8 mm in one addition)
  • Insulating tape
  • Plastic cover or thick cardboard for insoles
  • Pastel crayons or pencils
  • Beads or white beads
  • Button for a clasp - 1 pcs
  • Scissors
  • Needle for embroidery and sewing pieces
  • Pins for attaching details
  • Markers

These materials are only a list of my recommendation to help you create the toy like mine. You could use any type/size of the yarn and the hook, but you must understand it will affect the toy's final look.

Abbreviations

  • MR - Magic ring
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • ch - chain
  • BLO - back loops only
  • FLO - front loops only
  • *6 - number of repeats
  • (12) - total number of stitches in a round

Choose the correct hook size which is appropriate for the yarn you are going to use. Your choice can be different from mine, but please pay attention to the fact, that the size of the toy will be different when you use other yarn and other hook size.

Use a stitch marker for your convenience and rounds counting.

Stuff all the pieces as you go, firmly (unless otherwise stated), gradually adding small portions of stuffing and forming necessary shapes of pieces.

Arms (make 2)

Start crocheting with beige thread. Stuff in the process approximately to the middle. Insert a wire frame if necessary.

  9. Cut the yarn, fasten off, weave in the ends.

Legs & Body

First crochet the left leg, then the right leg.

Stuff with fiber fill in the process.

Start crocheting shoes with black thread.

  1. Make chain 7, start to crochet on the second chain from the hook:
    1. 5 sc, 3 sc in the last loop on the other side off the chain: 4 Sc, inc (14)
  2. inc, 4 sc, 3 inc, 4 SC, 2 inc (20)
  3. 1 sc, inc, 4 Sc, (1 sc, inc) * 3, 4 Sc, (1 SC, inc) * 2 (26)

  5. At this stage, you can cut the sole (2 pieces) from a thin plastic or cardboard.

  8. 8.31 sc - short round (you may have a different number of stitches).
  9. Move the marker to the back of the shoes, above the center of the heel. Use the foundation chain as a guide. For Rounds oth to 36th, always make sure that the last stitch (marker) stays in the center of the back.
  10. Insert the cut sole onto the bottom of the shoes.

At this point, we will go back to crocheting the shoes and stockings.

  1. Go back to the lith round, continue to sc on FLO using the black thread. (the tip of the hook is pointing up):

  2. Cut the yarn, fasten off, weave in the ends.
  3. Go back to the 24th round, continue to sc on FLO using the grey thread. (the tip of the hook is pointing up):
    1. 17 SC
  4. Cut the yarn, fasten off, weave in the ends.

Go back to crocheting your legs and body.

Continue crocheting from the right leg.

Make 1 ch, attach the left leg.

  1. 20 sc in the left leg, 1 sc on the chain, 20 sc in the right leg, inc on the chain, place marker (43)

Attach the arms:

Be careful when crocheting the arms. Number of sc on the body may differ. Make sure the arms are at the sides and the thumbs point forward.

  1. 8 sc on the back, 5 sc by crocheting stitches in the inner half of the left arm together with the body, 10 sc on the chest, 5 sc in the inner half of the right arm together with the body, 2 sc on the back (30)
  2. Change color to beige.
  3. 8 sc on the back, 5 sc in the outer half of the left arm, 10 sc on the chest, 5 sc in the outer half of the right arm, 2 sc on the back (30)

Start crocheting with beige thread.

Face design

  1. Face lift: Points A, B, C, D should be as close to the eyes as possible. The thread should be hidden behind them when tightening. The points E, F are located between the 29th to 30th Rounds.
  2. We take the thread of the color of the toy's body. Insert the needle at point F, exit through point D, insert the needle at point C, exit through point E, tighten the thread. Do not cut the thread, insert the needle at point F, exit through point B. Insert the needle at point A, exit through point E. Tighten the thread.
  3. Make white stitches around the eyes.
  4. Embroider eyebrows and eyelashes with black fine thread (Alize miss).
  5. Embroider the nose. Mark 2 points with pins, they are located between the 20th to 21st Rounds on the head, the distance between these points is 5 stitches. Make two stitches with the beige thread from one pin to the other pin. Wind the thread around these two stitches using a threaded needle.
  6. Sew the ears at a distance of 5 sc from the eyes.
  7. Slightly tint the cheeks and the nose with pastel crayons or pencils.

Hair

Start crocheting with dark black thread.

  7. Crochet the curls. Do not cut the thread. Make chain 20.
  8. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: (19 sc, sl st in the next stitch on the base) * 9
  9. Make chain 56. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: (55 sc, 2 sl st in the next stitch on the base) * 5
  10. Make chain 56. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: 55 sc, sl st in the next stitch on the base
  11. Make chain 14. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: 13 sc, sl st in the next stitch on the base
  12. Make chain 7. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: (6 sc, sl st in the next stitch on the base) * 4
  13. Make chain 14. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: 13 sc, sl st in the next stitch on the base
  14. Make chain 56. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: (55 sc, 2 sl st in the next stitch on the base) * 5
  15. Make chain 56. Start to crochet on the second chain from the hook: 55 sc, sl st in the next stitch on the base
  16. Cut the yarn, fasten off, leaving a long thread for sewing.

Use pins to secure the hair on the head.

It is advised to sew the upper part of the wig to the head.

  1. Fasten strands 16-21 in front, as shown in the photo.
  2. Fasten strands 1-9 at the back.
  3. Fasten long strands (10-15 and 20-25) between the ears and short strands at the back.
  4. After all the strands are laid, sew to the head with small stitches.
  5. Braid pigtails from long strands and tie them with a hair band.

Dress

Start crocheting with black thread. Work in rows.

  1. Make chain 39, start to crochet on the second chain from the hook:
    1. 6 SC, 3 sc in one stitch, 5 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 12 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 5 sc, 3 sc in one stitch, 6 sc (46), ch 1, turn
  2. 8 SC, 7 inc, 16 sc, 7
  3. 8 SC, 7 inc, 16 sc, 7 inc, 8 sc (60), ch 1, turn
  4. 8 sc, ch 5, skip 14 stitches, 16 sc, ch 5, skip 14 stitches, 8 sc (42), ch 1, turn
  5. 42 SC (7 rounds), ch 1, turn
  6. 42 inc (84), ch 1, turn
  7. 84 dc
  8. Join the work in a circle with a sl st, then crochet in rounds, start every round with 3 turning ch and finish with sl st. (8 rounds of 84 dc)
  9. Cut the yarn, fasten off, and weave in the ends.

Assembling the Doll

  1. Attach the head to the body. Use the long thread left from the head to sew the head securely to the body. Make sure it's well-positioned and centered.
  2. Attach the arms to the body as described earlier. Ensure they are well-sewn and aligned at the sides.
  3. Attach the legs to the body. Sew them securely in place, making sure they are evenly positioned.
  4. Dress the doll in the crocheted dress. Adjust the fit if necessary and ensure the dress is securely in place.
  5. Add any final details or adjustments. Ensure all pieces are securely attached and the doll is well-finished.

Finishing Touches

  1. Inspect the doll for any loose ends or imperfections. Tidy up as needed.
  2. Gently brush or style the hair as desired.
  3. If you used pastel crayons for cheeks or nose, make sure they are well-fixed and not smudged.
  4. Ensure all safety eyes and other embellishments are securely attached.
