TOOTHLESS AMIGURUMI – FREE PATTERN

 

Materials Required:

• Black yarn for the main body, head, limbs, and ears.
• Purple yarn for the wings and underbelly detail.
• Lime green yarn for the eye detail.
• White yarn for the eye glint.
• Crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight (typically a smaller hook than recommended for the yarn to create tight stitches that will hold the stuffing well).
• Fiberfill for stuffing.
• Yarn needle for sewing pieces together.
• Stitch markers.
• Safety eyes or black yarn for embroidering the eyes if preferred.

Pattern Instructions:

Body and Head (made as one piece in black yarn):

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts).
3. R2: Inc in each st around (12 sts).
4. R3: (Sc, inc) around (18 sts).
5. R4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) around (24 sts).
6. R5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) around (30 sts).
7. R6-14: Sc in each st around (30 sts).
8. R15: (Sc in next 3 sts, dec) around (24 sts).
9. R16: Sc in each st around (24 sts).
10. R17: (Sc in next 2 sts, dec) around (18 sts).
11. R18: Sc in each st around (18 sts), begin to stuff body, continue stuffing as work progresses.
12. R19: (Sc, dec) around (12 sts).
13. R20-28: Sc in each st around (12 sts). Now you are working up to the head.
14. R29: (Sc, inc) around (18 sts).
15. R30: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) around (24 sts).
16. R31: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) around (30 sts).
17. R32: (Sc in next 4 sts, inc) around (36 sts).
18. R33-41: Sc in each st around (36 sts). Place safety eyes between R39 and R40, about 7 sts apart.
19. R42: (Sc in next 4 sts, dec) around (30 sts).
20. R43: (Sc in next 3 sts, dec) around (24 sts).
21. R44: (Sc in next 2 sts, dec) around (18 sts). Finish stuffing head.
22. R45: (Sc, dec) around (12 sts).
23. R46: Dec around (6 sts).
24. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing closed.

Ears (Make 2 in black yarn):

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. R1: 4 sc in magic ring (4 sts).
3. R2: (Sc, inc) twice (6 sts).
4. R3: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) twice (8 sts).
5. R4: Sc in each st around (8 sts).
6. R5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) twice (10 sts).
7. R6-8: Sc in each st around (10 sts).
8. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew ears to the head between R37 and R40.

Wings (Make 2, in purple yarn):

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. R1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), 7 dc in ring, sl st to top of beginning ch-2 (8 dc).
3. R2: Ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to top of beginning ch-2 (16 dc).
4. R3: Ch 2, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * to * around, sl st to top of beginning ch-2 (24 dc).
5. R4: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * to * around, sl st to top of beginning ch-2 (32 dc).
6. R5: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to top of beginning ch-2.
7. R6: Ch 3 (counts as first tc), tc in same st, 2 tc in each st around, sl st to top of beginning ch-3 (64 tc).
8. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Limbs (Make 4 in black yarn):

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts).
3. R2: Inc in each st around (12 sts).
4. R3-10: Sc in each st around (12 sts).
5. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Stuff lightly before sewing to the body.

Belly (in purple yarn):

Chain a length that covers the bottom of the body from the back of the head to the lower body. Work in rows of sc back and forth until you have a piece that fits the body. End with a sl st and leave a long tail for sewing.

Eyes (in lime green yarn, optional):

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts).
3. R2: Inc in each st around (12 sts).
4. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew onto the face and then add a small white glint with white yarn on each eye.

After completing all parts, sew them together. Attach the ears, limbs, wings, and belly to the body. For the eyes, either use the green crocheted pieces or attach safety eyes and embroider around them with green yarn to create the eyelids.

Make sure the tension is even throughout to prevent stuffing from showing. Adjustments may need to be made to the pattern to ensure the correct proportions and fit of the parts.
