Stitch Free Crochet Pattern – Amigurumi

MATERIALS & TOOLS

  • Yarn: Premier Parfait Chunky (Size 6) in light blue & royal blue, Sweet Snuggles Lite (Size 6) in blue bird
  • Crochet hook (Size 6.0 mm)
  • Polyfil – fiberfill stuffing
  • Blue medium yarn for the tuft of hair
  • Felt for eyes (black, blue & white)
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker
  • Sewing pins

ABBREVIATIONS

  • CH – chain
  • SC – single crochet
  • INC – single crochet increase (2 SC in each stitch)
  • DEC – decrease (I use the invisible decrease in all of my creations for a cleaner look)
  • DC – double crochet
  • HDC – half double crochet
  • FO – fasten off
  • Magic ring – Make a loop, leaving a long tail to work with. Insert hook in the center of the loop, yarn over, and draw up a loop. Yarn over, pull through to make the first chain (this does not count as a stitch). Continue to crochet over the loop and tail with the number of stitches called for. There are many wonderful YouTube videos on how to make a magic circle if you are a visual learner! Always move your stitch marker to the last stitch in the round.

FOR THIS PATTERN, YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW:

  • Half-Double Crochet (HDC)
  • Double Crochet (DC)

HOW TO DO HDC:

  1. Yarn over, and insert the hook into the next stitch.
  2. Yarn over, and pull up a loop.
  3. Yarn over again, and pull the yarn through all three loops on the hook.

HOW TO DO DC:

  1. Yarn over. Insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop.
  2. Yarn over, and pull through two loops on the hook.
  3. Yarn over again, and pull through both loops on the hook.

  • Sew arms to both sides of the body, right where the head and body meet.
  • Sew the ears to the sides of the head, 7 rounds from the center.
  • Sew the nose to the front of the face, starting on Round 9.
  • Sew one of the back spots to the back of the head & sew the other to the back of the body.

Using purple felt, cut out two pieces for the inner ears and glue them onto the ears using fabric glue.

Using blue felt, cut out two ovals for the eyes, about 2 inches tall, and attach them to the face using fabric glue.

Using black felt, cut out 2 ovals, about 1 inch tall, and attach them to the blue eye ovals on the face.
