Materials

• 2.00 mm crochet hook
• 100% cotton yarn for a 2.00 mm hook
• A pair of 6 mm safety eyes
• Tapestry needle and pins

Finished Size

Your finished Silke should measure approximately 30 cm from the tip of the hat to her feet. Final measures may vary with different yarn and hook sizes.

Special Stitches

Bobble Stitch

This is used for the noses! In the next stitch, make 5 double crochets, keeping the last loop of each stitch on the hook. Slip stitch into all the 6 loops on the hook.

Picot Stitch

This is used for the rim of the Christmas hat. Chain 3, then crochet one sc in the first of those stitches (third chain from hook).

Body

1. Magic ring of 8 sc.
2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (16).
3. Crochet 1 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, repeat ** three times, finally crochet 1 sc (24).
4. Crochet 2 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, 4 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, repeat ** three times, finally crochet 2 sc (32).
5. Crochet 3 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, 6 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, repeat ** three times, finally crochet 3 sc (40).
6. Crochet 4 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, 8 sc, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, repeat ** three times, finally crochet 4 sc (48).

Ruffled Collar

Turn Silke's body upside down (neck down!) and join the green yarn in one of the front loops of round 31.

1. Crochet 2 sc in each of the front loops of round 31 (24).
2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (48).
3. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (96).
4. Crochet 96 sc.

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

Head

Place the body neck up. Join skin color yarn in one of the front loops of round 33.

1. Crochet 2 sc in each of the front loops of round 33 (24).
2. Crochet 1 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat * (36).
3. Crochet 5 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat * (42).
4. Crochet 6 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat * (48).
5. Crochet 7 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat * (54).
6. Rounds 6 and 7: Crochet 54 sc.
7. Crochet 41 sc, then for the nose, make a 5-dc bobble stitch, then 12 sc.
8. Rounds 9 to 20: Crochet 54 sc.
9. Crochet 7 sc, one decrease, repeat * (48).
10. Place safety eyes one round above the nose (10 stitches apart) and embroider cheeks with a bit of pink yarn.
11. Crochet 6 sc, one decrease, repeat * (42).
12. Crochet 5 sc, one decrease, repeat * (36).
13. Start stuffing the head...
14. Crochet 4 sc, one decrease, repeat * (30).
15. Crochet 3 sc, one decrease, repeat * (24).
16. Crochet 2 sc, one decrease, repeat * (18).
17. Stuff some more...
18. Crochet 1 sc, one decrease, repeat * (12).
19. Crochet 6 decreases (6).
20. Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

Pleated Skirt

Turn the doll's body upside down (head down!) and join the red yarn in one of the front loops of round 14.

1. Ch 18, 1 hdc in the third ch from the hook, 1 hdc in the next 13 ch stitches, then 1 sc in the remaining 2 ch (16 sts), 1 sist in the next front loop of round 14.
2. Turn, 2 sc BLO, 14 hdc BLO, ch 1, turn, ch 1, 14 hdc BLO, 2 sc BLO; repeat ** until each front loop from round 14 has been worked.

Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew both ends of the skirt together.

Arms

Make two, starting with skin color yarn...

1. Make 2 ch stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from the hook.
2. Crochet *2 sc in each stitch, repeat * (8).
3. Rounds 3 to 11: Crochet 8 sc. No need to stuff the arms...
4. Change to red and, only through back loops, crochet 8 sc.
5. Rounds 13 to 24: Crochet 8 sc.
6. Press the opening with your fingers and crochet together, with sc, both opposing sides.
7. Fasten off yarn and leave a long tail to sew arms to body.

Sew the arms to the body, slightly under the ruffled collar. Weave in ends

Assembly

1. Attach the head to the body using the long tail left from the head.
2. Sew the arms onto the body, slightly under the ruffled collar.
3. Position the legs and sew them to the bottom of the body.
4. Attach the hair by sewing it onto the head, making sure to secure the hair locks on either side.
5. Sew the hair buns onto the sides of the head, wrapping them with yellow yarn.
6. Finish by securing the Christmas hat on Silke’s head with a few stitches.

Final Touches

Once everything is assembled, check for any loose ends and weave them in. Adjust the positioning of the limbs and hair for a polished look. You can also embroider additional details, such as eyebrows or embellishments on the dress, for extra character!
