FREE PATTERN FOR THE JUMPSUIT


 

Materials Needed:

  • Any yarn 500-700m/100g. I used Alize Cotton Gold Fine, color 522 (mint), 100g/660m
  • Hook 1.6mm
  • Small button
  • Needle for securing the yarn ends and for sewing the button

Abbreviations:

  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • ch – chain stitch (ch-1 for chain stitch up)
  • inc – simple increase (2 sc in one stitch from the previous row)
  • reg – raglan increase (2 dc, ch, 2 dc in one stitch)
  • FPh – front post double crochet
  • BPh – back post double crochet

Instructions:

The jumpsuit is worked from top to bottom in a raglan style. Start by chaining 34 stitches.

Row Instructions:

  1. Row 1: Start in the 3rd stitch from the hook: 4 dc, inc, 5 dc, inc, 8 dc, inc, 8 dc, inc, 5 dc, inc, 5 dc
  2. Row 2: Ch 2, sc, inc, 9 dc, inc, 12 dc, inc, 9 sc, inc, 7 sc
  3. Row 3: Ch 2, 8 sc, inc, 13 sc, inc, 16 sc, inc, 13 sc, inc, 9 sc
  4. Row 4: Ch 2, 10 sc, inc, 17 sc, inc, 20 sc, inc, 17 sc, inc, 11 sc
  5. Row 5: Ch 2, 12 sc, inc, 21 sc, inc, 24 sc, inc, 21 sc, inc, 13 sc
  6. Row 6: Ch 2, 14 sc, insert hook in the ch of the raglan, skip 25 sc, insert hook under the next raglan ch and work sc, 28 sc, insert hook in the raglan ch, skip 25 sc, insert hook under the next raglan ch and work sc, 15 sc
  7. Row 7: Ch 2, 14 sc, inc, 28 sc, inc, 15 sc
  8. Row 8: Ch 2, 14 sc, 2 inc, 28 sc, 2 inc, 15 sc
  9. Row 9: Ch 2, 66 sc
  10. Row 10: Ch 2, 16 sc, inc, 30 sc, inc, 17 sc
  11. Rows 11-15: Ch 2, 67 sc. At the end of row 15, do not turn your work, join with a slip stitch to the other side and continue working in the round.
  12. Row 16: Ch 2, 33 sc, place a marker, 34 sc, slip stitch
  13. Row 17: Ch 2, the next slip stitch goes in the place where you placed the marker and continue working in the round for the first leg, ch 2, 35 sc, slip stitch (36)
  14. Row 18: Ch 2, 16 sc, dec, 17 sc, slip stitch (35)
  15. Row 19: Ch 2, 34 sc, slip stitch (35)
  16. Row 20: Ch 2, 16 sc, dec, 16 sc, slip stitch (34)
  17. Rows 21-27: Ch 2, 33 sc, slip stitch (34)
  18. Row 28: Ch 2, (FPh, BPh) * 7 to create a 1x1 ribbing effect, slip stitch, cut the yarn, secure it, and hide the end using a needle.

Second Leg:

Join the yarn for the second leg to row 16, ch 2, 35 sc, slip stitch, and continue working in the round for the second leg, rows 18-28 in the same way.

Finishing:

Next, attach the yarn at the beginning of your work (to the corner of the back left piece) and start edging the neckline with sc, finishing up to the end of the neckline. Make a button loop with 4 ch, then continue edging the entire neckline with sc. Cut the yarn, secure it, and hide the end using a needle.

Sew on the button.

The jumpsuit is ready!

Perform wet blocking:

  • Rinse in warm water without detergent.
  • Lay flat on a dry towel until completely dry.
  • Lightly steam with a cool iron.
