Eyes (Make 2):
Use black yarn or safety eyes:
- Place safety eyes between Rounds 11 and 12, about 6-7 stitches apart, on each body half.
For Embroidered Eyes:
- Cut two pieces of black yarn and embroider small “x”-shaped eyes on the face, placing them similarly to where safety eyes would go.
Tentacles (Make 2 sets, one for each body half):
- Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring, 6 sc in ring (6 sts)
- Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts)
- Rnd 3: [Sc in next st, inc] * 6 (18 sts)
- Rnd 4: [Sc in next 2 sts, inc] * 6 (24 sts)
- Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sts, inc] * 6 (30 sts)
- Rnd 6: [Sc in next 4 sts, inc] * 6 (36 sts)
Assembly:
- Tentacles: Sew the tentacles to the bottom of each body half. Ensure that each set of tentacles is positioned on the underside of each octopus half (Color A tentacles for Color A body, and Color B tentacles for Color B body).
- Stuffing: Stuff each body half firmly but not too tightly. Ensure that both halves can still be easily turned inside out when they are joined.
- Joining the Two Halves:
- Place the two body halves together, with the tentacle sides facing outward.
- Using Color A yarn, sc around the edge of both body halves to join them together, making sure to catch stitches from both halves as you go.
- Continue around the edge until the two halves are fully joined.
- Finishing Touches: Weave in any loose ends and trim any excess yarn. Double-check that the octopus can be turned inside out smoothly.
Reversible Octopus Notes:
- Size: The octopus should be around 4-5 inches tall once completed, but size may vary depending on yarn weight and hook size.
- Customization: Feel free to experiment with different yarn colors for fun expressions and playful characters. You can also embroider a small smile or other expressions to add personality!
