Power star pillow free crochet pattern

 

Materials

• 8mm Crochet hook
• 8mm blanket yarn (weight 5 or 6)
• Polyester fill
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle
• 4mm acrylic yarn in black and white (weight 4) and crochet hook to suit

Pattern Instructions

Note: The star will buckle quite a lot before stuffing is added - this is normal.

Star (make 2):

1. R1: mr10 (10)
2. R2: inc x 10 (20)
3. R3: (sc1, inc) × 10 (30)
4. R4: (sc2, inc) x 10 (40)
5. R5: sc1, inc, (sc3, inc) x 9, sc2 (50)
6. R6: (sc4, inc) × 10 (60)
7. R7: (sc5, inc) × 10 (70)
8. R8: sc2, inc, (sc6, inc) x 9, sc4 (80)
9. R9-10: sc14, ch1 turn (14)
10. R11: dec, sc10, dec, ch1 turn (12)
11. R12: dec, sc8, dec, ch1 turn (10)
12. R13: dec, sc6, dec, ch1 turn (8)
13. R14: dec, sc4, dec, ch1 turn (6)
14. R15: dec, sc2, dec, ch1 turn (4)
15. R16: dec × 2, tie off (2)

Going back to round 8, count 3 stitches from the last stitch of round 9, then repeat rounds 9-16 another 4 times (beginning in that 3rd stitch) so you have a total of 5 points on your star.

Hold both stars together so the wrong sides face each other. Beginning at the top of one point, sc around the outside of the stars (through both stars). Before finishing sc around the stars, add stuffing so the pillow is firm. Finish the sc and ss into the first sc you made. (Add a bit more stuffing before finishing so the final point has enough stuffing.)

Eyes (make 2):

1. R1: Using 4mm yarn - ch4, skipping the ch space closest to the hook, sc2, sc3 in the last ch space, on the bottom of the stitches you just made, sc1 on the bottom of the 2nd sc, inc on the bottom of the first sc (8)
2. R2: (inc, sc1) x 4 (12)
3. R3: inc, sc4, change color and sc1 in the same space as the previous st, inc, sc1, change color and sc1 in the same space as the previous st, sc3, inc × 2 (18)
4. R4: inc, sc4, (inc, sc1) x 3, sc3, (inc, sc1) x 2, inc. Tie off, leaving a long tail for sewing. (24)

Position the eyes onto one side of the pillow, ensuring the white sections are both pointing to the top of the star. Once you're happy with the positioning, sew into place.
