Christmas tree free pattern


 

Materials:

  • Green yarn (for the tree)
  • Brown yarn (for the trunk)
  • Yellow yarn (for the star)
  • Small amounts of red, blue, yellow yarn (for ornaments)
  • Crochet hook (3.5mm - 4mm recommended)
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Abbreviations:

  • MR: Magic Ring
  • sc: Single Crochet
  • inc: Increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec: Decrease (sc two stitches together)
  • sl st: Slip Stitch
  • ch: Chain
  • st(s): Stitch(es)
  • FLO: Front Loop Only

1. Tree Body:

Tier 1 (Top part of the tree):

  1. Round 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6)
  2. Round 2: sc, inc around. (9)
  3. Round 3: 2 sc, inc around. (12)
  4. Round 4: 3 sc, inc around. (15)
  5. Rounds 5-7: sc around. (15)
  6. Round 8: 4 sc, inc around. (18)
  7. Rounds 9-11: sc around. (18)
  8. Round 12: 5 sc, inc around. (21)
  9. Rounds 13-15: sc around. (21)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Tier 2 (Middle part of the tree):

  1. Round 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6)
  2. Round 2: sc, inc around. (9)
  3. Round 3: 2 sc, inc around. (12)
  4. Round 4: 3 sc, inc around. (15)
  5. Round 5: 4 sc, inc around. (18)
  6. Rounds 6-9: sc around. (18)
  7. Round 10: 5 sc, inc around. (21)
  8. Rounds 11-13: sc around. (21)
  9. Round 14: 6 sc, inc around. (24)
  10. Rounds 15-17: sc around. (24)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

  9. Round 13: 6 sc, inc around. (24)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

2. Tree Trunk:

  1. Round 1: Using brown yarn, MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6)
  2. Round 2: sc, inc around. (9)
  3. Rounds 3-8: sc around. (9)

Fasten off and stuff with fiberfill. Sew the trunk to the bottom part of the tree.

3. Star for the Top:

  1. Round 1: Using yellow yarn, ch 2, work 5 sc into the 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st. (5)
  2. Round 2: ch 2, sl st in next st around for each point of the star.

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew the star onto the top of the tree.

4. Ornaments (Make several):

  1. Round 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6)
  2. Round 2: inc around. (12)
  3. Round 3: sc around. (12)
  4. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Make the ornaments in different colors and sew them randomly onto the tree.

Assembly:

  • Once all three tiers are complete, sew them together, starting with the smallest tier on top and the largest on the bottom. Use the tails you left earlier to attach each section securely.
  • Stuff the tree lightly with fiberfill before attaching the final pieces.
  • After the tree is assembled and the ornaments are attached, you can adjust the tree’s shape by lightly bending the cone to give it a natural look.
