Materials and Tools

  • Plush Yarn: Himalaya Dolphin Baby (for the bear)
  • Yarn: YarnArt Jeans (for embroidery on the muzzle)
  • Yarn: Gazzal Baby Cotton (for the sweater and cap)
  • Crochet Hook: 3-3.5 mm
  • Circular Knitting Needles: Suitable for the sweater and cap
  • Safety Eyes: 12 mm
  • Safety Nose: 16 mm
  • Toy Stuffing: For filling the bear
  • Stitch Markers: To mark key points in your work
  • Joints or Discs for Limbs: 15 mm for hands, 20 mm for feet
  • Needle: For attaching details
  • Scissors: For trimming yarn

Benny the Bear Crochet Pattern


Head

  1. Round 1: 8 sc in KA
  2. Round 2: (1 sc, inc) x 4 times (12) – Place a stitch marker here to mark the bottom of the head.
  3. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 times (18)
  4. Round 4: 5 sc, inc, 6 sc, inc, 5 sc (20)
  5. Round 5: 6 sc, (1 sc, inc) x 4 times, 6 sc (24)
  6. Round 6: (5 sc, inc) x 4 times (28)
    7-9. 28 sc for 3 rounds
  7. Round 10: (5 sc, dec) x 4 times (24)

Insert the eyes between rounds 4 and 5, with 4 stitches between the eyes. Insert the nose between rounds 1 and 2.

  1. Round 11: (4 sc, dec) x 4 times (20)
  2. Round 12: (3 sc, dec) x 4 times (16)
  3. Round 13: (2 sc, dec) x 4 times (12)

Stuff the head.

  1. Round 14: 6 dec – Close the opening.

Muzzle Shaping

  1. Using a needle and thread, insert the needle at the bottom center of the head (around round 6).
  2. Pull the needle out between rounds 3 and 4 on the outside of the eyes.
  3. Insert the needle again between rounds 2 and 3 near the same eye on the inner side.
  4. Pull the needle down to the starting point of the muzzle, pull tight, and tie off. Repeat for the second eye.

Ears (Make 2)

  1. Round 1: 2 ch, 7 sc in the 1st chain.
  2. Turn work, 1 ch (for turning), 7 sc in the next round. (Don’t work in a circle, work back and forth).
  3. Attach the ears to the head.

Embroider the mouth between rounds 2 and 3, 2 stitches wide from the magic ring.
